Safety Equipment

ALL SAFETY EQUIPMENT CARRIED ON BOARD MUST BE: • In good condition and meet appropriate standards or specifications • Maintained or serviced according to manufacturer’s specifications • Replaced before the expiry date listed by manufacturer (if applicable) • Stored in an easily accessible location:

  • EPIRB (check and test)
  • Marine radio
  • LifeJackets (12 x level 100)
  • Anchor
  • Bailer / Bucket
  • Bilge pump
  • Compass
  • Orange smoke flares (check in date)
  • Red flares (check in date)
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Map / Chart
  • Paddles
  • Safety label
  • Air horn / Whistle
  • V-Sheet
  • Drinking water (2L per person)
  • Waterproof torch

Additional checks

  • Navigation lights.
  • Check batteries (ensure power is off afterwards).
  • Trailer lights.
  • Air pump / hose.
  • Funnel for re-fueling.
  • Deflate the RIB (Don’t deflate too much or the material will sag and rub on the wheel arch).
  • Check back-up GPS and Batteries.
  • Fuel containers.
  • Arial is secured.
  • Motor is raised and securely fastened.
  • Crank handle.
  • Check tyres.
  • Check spare tyre.
